What are Advanced Cruising Adventures All About?
These Advanced Cruising Adventures are designed for sailors who wants to push a bit further, work a bit harder, and refine their navigation, anchoring, and seamanship skills. We’ll have early departures, long sailing days, and late arrivals as we explore more remote parts of the Sea of Cortez on a Sun Odyssey 449 Monohull.
Captain Rank and SLC Practical Competency Verification is available.
April 20-27, La Paz to Puerto Bahia Agua Verde
We’ll make more than 200 nautical miles on our voyage, begining with the northbound leg from from La Paz to Bahia Agua Verde, through the Parque Nacional, visiting remote areas, islands, and a couple of tiny villages along the way. Highlights include Isla San Francisco and San Jose, Puerto Los Gatos, Bahia Agua Verde, and the amazing Caleta Candaleros Chico, pictured above. We’ll return through the Parque Nacional, stopping at favorite and new anchorages, arriving back in La Paz to enjoy a celebratory dinner ashore.
Along the way on each leg you’ll keep up with and modify our passage plan, making decisions on stopping at new islands and coves and deciding if and where to anchor. The bottom line is, you will have the opportunity to push your limits safely and in good style, and learn how to explore new areas and figure out remote anchorages. These are skills you can take with you around the world.

Travel Planning, Dates, Times, Deposit
Generally, a flight to Cabo San Lucas (SJD) is easier than attempting to fly to La Paz (which usually involves connecting thru Mexico City).
EcoBaja Tours provides low cost comfortable shuttle round trip to and from the Cabo airport and La Paz - see the Travel Details page.
The CostaBaja Resort and the Hyatt are two very nice hotels right at the Marina.
The trip begins with boarding the boat at CostaBaja Marina, beginning 5 PM the first day, usually a Saturday; enjoy a welcome with no-host sundown cocktails at the Beach Club across from the boat, and a get-acquainted dinner together in the harbor; spend the first night on the boat in the harbor.
We depart the Marina by 10:00 AM Sunday, spend 6 days cruising the islands, and return to the Marina by about 4 PM on Friday. Off the boat by 10 AM Saturday.
See the Travel Details page for complete information.
