Crew Overboard Rescue Clinic

Feel confident that you can do what you need to do for an effective rescue of crew overboard.

COB Rescue Maneuvers That Work On All Points of Sail

This is the one you need to be ready for, any time you’re on the water.  And we start out by talking about keeping your butt safely on board in the first place!

We will practice the Heave-To technique, and review the Quick Turn, and Broad Reach-Close Reach, from every point of sail.  We will also practice and discuss when and how to use the engine, and actually getting the crew member back on board. Watch the video below. You will learn this method!

This is the single-handed COB rescue Heave-To method. To my colleagues at US Sailing, ASA, and NauticEd, “You need to pay attention to this method.” I have to say that in all of my 25 years of sailing instruction, I have found no better method when sailing from Close Hauled to Beam Reach.
