Maneuvering Under Power Endorsement

Want to be able to back in to a slip, land confidently at a busy fuel dock, and pick up that mooring in a crosswind?  This is the class that so many sailors say they need more of.

Two steps:
1. You start with the Maneuvering Under Power online course, and complete it prior to our day on the water - details sent upon registration.
2. On the water practice:  you'll refine your skills in docking at slips, side-ties, and pump-out stations; maneuvering in reverse; backing in to a slip or side tie; springing off a lee wall; using prop-walk and prop-wash for pivot turns and fine control; picking up a mooring; recovering when it goes wrong.

Spinnaker Endorsement

The asymmetrical spinnaker is a beautiful sail that can make the difference between sailing back from Catalina, and having to motor all the way home.  Designed for reaching and downwind sailing, the fast and impressive asymmetric spinnaker is actually pretty straightforward once you know how to rig and fly it.  That what we teach and practice here.

You’ll learn how to rig, set, trim, jibe, and douse the asymmetric spinnaker, and how the helmsman and the trimmer work together to make the boat go fast.

Prerequisites:  Competent Crew:  able to work at the skipper’s direction to safely handle halyards, sheets, and winches, and steer a steady course; familiarity with sail trim concepts; must be in good physical condition, able to move around the boat while underway.
