What are Advanced Cruising Adventures All About?

These Advanced Cruising Adventures are designed for sailors who wants to push a bit further, work a bit harder, and refine their navigation, anchoring, and seamanship skills. We’ll have early departures, long sailing days, and late arrivals as we explore more remote parts of the Sea of Cortez on a Lagoon 440 Catamaran.

Captain Rank and SLC Practical Competency Verification is available.

Leg 1 - April 13-20, 2019. La Paz to Puerto Escondido
We’ll make more than 120 nautical miles northbound from from La Paz to Puerto Escondido, through the Parque Nacional, visiting remote areas, islands, and a couple of tiny villages along the way. Highlights include Isla San Francisco and San Jose, Puerto Los Gatos, Bahia Agua Verde, and the amazing Caleta Candaleros Chico, pictured above. We put in with a slip at Puerto Escondido, enjoy a celebratory dinner ashore, and the next day re-provision in Loreto, and prepare for the southbound trip. Some will fly out of the nearby Loreto airport, and Leg 2 crew will begin to arrive.

Leg 2 - April 20-27, 2019. Puerto Escondido to La Paz
After provisioning the boat, we depart the following morning with a plan that could include many interesting and varied islands and coves such as Isla Coronados, Isla Carmen, Isla Danzante, Islas San Diego and Catalina and more. We’ll return through the Parque Nacional, stopping at favorite and new anchorages, arriving back in La Paz to enjoy a celebratory dinner ashore.

Along the way on each leg you’ll keep up with and modify our passage plan, making decisions on stopping at new islands and coves and deciding if and where to anchor. The bottom line is, you will have the opportunity to push your limits safely and in good style, and learn how to explore new areas and figure out remote anchorages. These are skills you can take with you around the world.
